Fly The Wave - Warrior (Aero-Marine) Ltd.

WARRIOR: NEWS BULLETINS

May 2008

GULL UAV: Warrior has started flying the GULL 36 seaplane UAV, working with a series of aerospace companies under contracts from Flight Refuelling of the Cobham Group. The GULL is exhibiting excellent water handling and flying qualities. Theoretical models have been proven to be very accurate when compared to data extracted from the GULL's data loggers.

The GULL 36s are flying from and over water in civil airspace. They achieve the same level of safety as equivalent manned aircraft. This work is already historic – the first aerial work by a seaplane with new-generation hull-forms. The waves that the GULL UAVs have regularly been flying in scale to over 6 feet high for the six-seat Centaur. The GULL is also set to establish a series of further unmanned system "firsts", so watch this space.

Defence R&D: Warrior has provided a series of independent developments for the UK Defence Technology Council, demonstrating the principles for safe launch and recovery of small vessels, to and from ship while at speed and in significant Seastates.

Warrior UK has moved 1 mile to premises with better workshop facilities. The new address is Warrior (Aero-Marine) Ltd, Castle Works, Castle Road, Salisbury, SP1 3SB. Telephone contact points remain the same.

Due to multiple projects and associated identities, the website has changed to www.warrioraero.com with subsidiary sights for GULL and Centaur. Current and old links including emails will continue to work.

August 2007

Warrior has been contracted by Flight Refuelling Ltd of the Cobham Group to build and fly two 4-metre span GULL 36s, with associated systems, for the ASTRAEA programme. Tooling and design is complete and airframe manufacture has started.

Testing of towed sled launch and recovery systems with reduced-scale prototypes has been wholly successful, at speed and in choppy conditions.

October 2006

Warrior continues to test the GULL 24 successfully on open water and winds up to 25 knots and is partnering with three other companies in responding to invitations to bid for defence and civil R&D funds.

New initiatives have commenced with regards to Centaur funding.

May 2006

Warrior is active on the GULL UAV programme which has extended into the first model tests in developing a system to enable automated operation from ship.

A series of presentations have been made to UK Navy interests and the ISTAR office at the Ministry of Defence. This relationship is expected to develop as maritime UAV policy is defined.

Activity continues on both GULL and Centaur business development fronts.

September 2005

Warrior is show-casing the GULL UAV Series at ParcAberporth on 7 September and Presenting at Unmanned Systems International on 9 September.
